Prairie Faith
On Sunday, February 26, 2023, Pastor Randy Gibbs was lovingly bestowed the Title of “Pastor Emeritus” by Prairie Faith Shared Ministry and the congregations of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney; St. John Lutheran Church, Ellis; Emanuel Lutheran Church, Ogallah and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ness City. He was presented this beautiful certificate created and made of freehand calligraphy by our Communications and Office Specialist, Laura Dinkel. We appreciate Pastor Emeritus Randy’s many years of service to Prairie Faith, our congregations and our communities.
“Very proud of my dad, and grateful that the congregations he served for so many years choosing to acknowledge him and his dedication to his calling. Even though he “retired” a couple years ago, he has continued to provide pastoral services to congregations in WaKeeney & beyond. He has filled the pulpit in multiple churches to ensure that God’s word continues to be heard. The thing about ministry is that it’s a CALLING not job-so there really is no “retirement”, it’s just stepping into a different role. You can’t put a pastor to pasture, so to speak. Yesterday, Prairie Faith Shared Ministry (the collective congregations of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. John Lutheran Church – PFSM, Our Redeemer (Ness City) and Emanuel Lutheran Church) bestowed upon him the title of Pastor Emeritus. He is not a man who cares about titles or degrees and more a man of character & action – but I think he was both surprised and pretty honored by this gesture.
